The late Dr. Maya Angelou often said, “We are more alike than we are unalike.” Given everything going on in the country right now with inequality and police brutality, what do you think the late Dr. Maya Angelou would say about the current situation and climate in America? And what advice would you personally give if you had the chance to speak to an audience of your peers on the issue of inequality and police brutality in the country?
REQUIREMENTS: Open to all high school and college students in America. You should plan to write a 2 page essay, answering both questions. You should aim to answer the first part of the essay prompt on page 1 and the 2nd part of the prompt on page 2. You should write in 12 point font, Times New Roman.

Winners will be announced in early Spring 2020. 1st place winner will win a cash prize and be invited to the premiere of the film, “Voices From the Bayou” where they will have a chance to deliver their speech to a live audience and to members of Dr. Angelou’s family.
